Navajo Nation elects Buu Nygren president

Buu Nygren, half Navajo-half Vietnamese, becomes the youngest president of the Navajo Nation. His running mate becomes the first woman to be vice-president. They defeated incumbent Jonathan Nez.

Democrats sweep statewide executive races

Democrats won handily in all five of the statewide offices in New Mexico, not including those of Governor and Lt Governor. 

GO Bond 3 passes, securing $89.2 million for capital projects at UNM

On Tuesday, Nov. 8, general obligations bond 3, providing $215,986,000 toward higher education in New Mexico, passed with 61% of the vote.

Facing the Northern NM resource problems

Grace Calderon looked out over the 18-acre property in Montezuma, New Mexico where she and her husband had been renovating a small house for their retirement. The fire had licked at the house but destroyed the shed in which they had been storing all the materials needed to finish the home.
