Voters can ask CD 1 candidates questions on Twitter Thursday
Voters who want to ask questions of the candidates for the First Congressional District can do so online through a Twitter town hall Thursday.
UNM journalism students working with the New Mexico News Port will ask questions of U.S. Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham and challenger Mike Frese from 12:45 – 1:45. Audience members should tweet questions to @NMNewsPort and follow along with the hashtag #nm2014.
Students in a reporting class have generated questions on topics including student debt, ISIS, equal pay for women and the legalization of marijuana. Students organizing the event will take questions from audience members during the second half of the event.
Much like an in-person debate, candidates will give opening remarks, respond to questions and rebut the answers of their opponent.
So far, the candidates have appeared together at two events ahead of the Nov. 4 election.
The first one was televised by PBS on Oct. 9 and the second was an invitation-only commercial real estate development forum hosted at the Albuquerque Marriott on Oct. 20.
Lujan Grisham, the incumbent Democrat, leads Frese, a Republican, in fundraising and polling.
