APD sets up new cop shop at UNM

By Syaire Riley / NM News Port

Albuquerque Police Department is testing out a new Area Command station located on the campus of UNM. Under Acting Deputy Commander Ray Del Greco, the University Area Command will be staffed by six sergeants, two lieutenants, and over 30 staff officers.

News Port’s Syaire Riley pursued the case and filed this audio report:

The new University Area Command takes charge of the western half of what was the sprawling APD Southeast Division. The new division, which will have offices near the UNM football stadium, covers the area west of San Mateo Blvd. to I-25. The SE command will continue to cover the city east of San Mateo. The northern boundary for both divisions is I-40.

Contact the center at (505)-256-2050.

For emergencies call 911.
