UNM’s Jerrick Reed II was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks April 29.
During the third day of the NFL draft, in the middle of the 6 round, pick number 198, Reed finally got the call he was waiting for as Seahawks General Manager John Schneider welcomed him to the team.
Reed becomes the highest UNM player drafted since Glover Quinn in the 2009 draft.
Reed was surrounded by friends and family back in Olive Branch, Mississippi at a draft party when he became a Seahawk.
“He’s one of our favorites.” Schneider said about Reed in a post draft press conference. “He was very under the radar.”
The Seahawks rookie minicamp starts May 12 and continues to the 15.
