Albuquerque’s Fire Rescue department just made news for hiring its first woman as chief. Now, Emily Jaramillo faces the challenge of filling 29 new firefighting positions in the department.
Meanwhile, the state reports some 126 vacancies among fire departments in Albuquerque, Bernalillo County and Santa Fe.
The News Port’s Ryan Lovato met an aspiring firefighter, Ian MacEachen, and asked about his career path.
